I also have a question. Why make dvd/bluray combo packs. Just make one DVD and One Blu ray seperate. What if someone doesn't want to buy the DVD and Bluray version
Wel I do know that it was a question they asked on a past survey and apparently alotof people said to do it. So now we have then. While I don't have a BD player myself.... yet anywho.... I didn't/don't mind the fact they come with both.
It also future-proofs the consumer (ta a degree) and allows them to have multiple viewing options. So if they had a BD player at home, and wanted to be able to watch a series at a friends house who does not have one or on their laptop without a BD player while on a plane, they can for only a few dollars more. If they had only purchased a stand alone blu ray version, they couldn't do this.

I like the option myself personally. It also makes it better for people who may not have a Blu-ray player now, but will eventually get one. Also, Blu-ray drives aren't standard yet in desktops/laptops, and many people might like to watch their stuff on a trip. but the Blu-ray at home. Looking at it from a consumer standpoint, it is nice to have those options. One must also understand, it really isn't feasible for them to produce Blu-ray, DVD, and Blu-ray/DVD releases. I like where Funimation has gone with this, I just wish the other companies would follow suit.
Didn't they previously do it in DVD sized ones and people hated it?
I don't recall anybody hating it the previous way. I'm just confused as to why they switched to Blu-Ray packaging in the first place. And while I don't care for the blu-ray discs, I agree with ShadowFalls that it's nice to have the options available in case something should happen.

I'm guessing cost would be the only reason to switch, from a production standpoint or a storage standpoint the cost of BD boxes must of beat out the DVD version.

I saw people complaining on other forums (like ANN) about wanting to put the combo pack LE boxes in with their BD collection and the DVD-sized boxes ruined the consistency/look of their shelves or that their shelves were sized to fit BD height, not DVD, making it so that the DVD-sized sets didn't fit.

So pretty much the shoe is onn the other foot per say. They complained the DVD sized cases ruined the Blu-Ray consistency and now others are complaining about the exact opposite.

Can't satisfy everyon eas they say. Frankly the hight diffrence isnt' that much., Far better than NIS's PE editions that look well out of place on the shelf next to other sets. So the little inch we miss of the new BD sets isn't anything to cry/complain about.

^ saves money, paperwork and keeps retailers happy to order, that's why they switched to them in the first place.
