lol thats partly why
I avoid readding thoes htings. Can either get your hopes up or give you something kinda bad to think about. lol But you gotta take the good with the bad. One hting I'm glade they changed up a bit was how the first few eps were ending off kinda in a depressing tone. Then they started chaning that up every now and then. But man this series is good. Think I could place it in a my top 10. Depending on how they end the anime might make it up there with Yu Yu Hakusho and Asura Cryin'.
Yeah I really hate to compliment a show this much before its finished because I've seen a few great shows where their ending just ruined an otherwise great show(InuYasha for exp). But I think they would have a hard time ruining this show for me. So yeah I'm just hoping it stays just the way it is. All the side stories have been great and interesting. And as for the concept, I'm still just so thrilled to see someone finally came out with a very well done anime about "living life" in a video game! I'm truly surprised it took this long!!
hmmm as for top 10 well I have to admit SAO with as good as this has been so far even though its not over its already in my top 10 for sure(yeah I guess a very bad ending could knock in down into just the top 20 though)!! And it's getting really lose to my top five! If it ends up with 50+ episodes I'm sure it will make my top 5!! IMO It's hard to beat long running classics like DBZ, Naruto/Naruto S, and Bleach! I do hate how many useless filler episodes they have but the time and effort put into those pretty good story lines make it really hard to top them! I'd rather see 200 great episodes with 100 bad ones mixed in then see just get to see 13 or even 26 great episodes with 1 or 2 bad ones thrown in(there's always at least 1 or 2 bad episodes, although SAO doesn't have any yet, hmmm)!! To round out my top 5 I'd probably have to say its Kenichi the mightiest disciple and Avatar the last air bender. Since I need 50+ episodes at least to make it into my top 5 I'm really hoping SAO makes it that high!
Most of the best animes in my opinion are the ones that take time and effort put into them to give the story line some true meaning and entertainment! It's obviously hard to pick "top" animes because theirs so many good ones, and there are a few great short(12/13 episode) ones out there too. But I think Everyone can agree, those would be even better, probably much better, if they had more episodes! So anyway the rest of my top 10 are Full Metal Alchemist, SAO, Blood+, Yu Yu hakusho, and InuYasha. InuYasha would probably jump all the way up to 4th if it wasn't for how Bad it ended!!! All the great fights against Naraku and it turned out ending in the final act with kagome having an inner struggle with the crystal, man what a waste!
Okay I'm done writing this book now lol. Yeah I got a bit carried away !
I like this show. Especially this mystery murders the last episode.
Oh, that was just poorly written. Kirito is more worried about NPCs than the actual players risking their lives to survive the game, Asuna and Kirito's conversation was an obvious set up for the murders. Kirito only figures out what was going on after having the marriage conversation; Asuna had the information the entire time, and should have been able to solve it immediately, but in a poor effort to make Kirito a more impressive hero, she wasn't given the opportunity. And in the end, that didn't even have anything to do with his motivation? Which was totally unbelievable, by the way, as well as him dropping to his knees after a 14 year old who's never been in a relationship says one line. Absolutely juvenile writing.
It's certainly not a 'great' show, yet I'm still watching.

I certainly can't agree with that outright. While that may be the case with some shows. Truly well written 1 cour shows stand well on their own, and are often better than many long-running shonen.
Man there's always at least kid who joins every forum Just to talk sh*t, trying to get some attention! I'm not even going to recognize that last comment with any kind of response!
Kids should at least get their Facts straight before they speak!
There's no doubt SAO is a Great anime!! And Kirito is a Young teenage hero driven by the fact that he wants to help Everyone survive the game! Every side story has been based on that!!! And done very well, especially considering the time restraint they have to do them in and the age group it all takes place in!!
Nothing is perfect, and nothing can satisfy everyone, but Everyone knows something that's good, is something that you Always want more of and it's always better when you get more of it!!!
Yeah I'm really new to the forums here on funimation but it looks like I'm going to have to look into blocking response's or at least ignoring certain profiles already !!
If you dont like a show then start a thread, but don't try trashing the people who are in this one!! If you must disagree on this forum then state what you dont like but don't bring others into it! And please at least make sense with Facts when you try to bash a show!!
I can agree it is very hard to make a top fav listing. And to be honest. All I can really say is that I only really know my #1 fav. Its just that all other shows shift places all the time depening on how I feel about watching other shows agian and going "man this was good definetly one of my fav" So its really just easier to me to make a #1 spot.
Ep 9 is by far on eof the best eps thus far. Ep 8 gave a little break with some usual anime flirtung, lol, but then lead in to a tight spot ending. And though it looks like they were about to blow that off rathe rquick in the start of 9. THey really delivered by the end with Kirito revealing his unique Double sword ability. Granted the fight nearly killed him but a great ep I must say. Now we meove to 10 and the Knights are looking to force Kirito into joining the Guild since Asuna want to take a break form them and party with Kirito for a while. Looks to be another intersting ep coming up.
InuYasha would probably jump all the way up to 4th if it wasn't for how Bad it ended!!! All the great fights against Naraku and it turned out ending in the final act with kagome having an inner struggle with the crystal, man what a waste!
First, I'm really glad somebody started a thread about this show. I tried searching for one but couldn't find anythng. I think this is an awesome anime and am extremely glad that it will have at least 26 eps. Considering how they've already gotten above floor 70 though, I don't see it having 50+ eps like Reapersbeast said. I know a lot of people want Funi to license this, I'm one of them, but Sentai is probably going to get it. I'm not sure if it was mentioned on Crunchyroll or ANN but somebody pointed out that Sentai has their eyes on it and either wants to get it or is currently in the process of trying.
As for the quote, Inuyasha actually didn't completely end right there. That was the end of the dubbed version, however, it was entirely completed in Inuyasha: the Final Act. It's 26 eps long and is only subbed right now but a company is or was trying to get the rights to it. They may have already and are in the process of dubbing it though. I can't give an opinion on it since I haven't watched it yet. It's on Hulu if you want to see it.
Anyway, back to SOA, anyone who hasn't seen it, it's currently being simulcast on Crunchyroll. It's an awesome series and I highly recommend it. One last thing, Dragon0, ep 9 hasn't been released on CR yet so you kinda gave a spoiler for anyone who's been watching through that like me. Sounds really sweet though. Can't wait for them to finally show it.

I completely agree about 9 being the best episode so far! Sorry for any spoilers but I have to say the fact that he's progressing at a great rate as a solo player is working into the story soooo well!!! It's really whats making the story so good I think!! And Finally hes got a consistent character in Asuna with him. And I think she adds just the right amount of hot bad ass chick with feminine charm to the show! And for the love of god the pimp soloed a boss, lol ofcourse its gonna almost kill him!! That's what makes it so good !!! And then at the end when Heathcliff was trying to act like he own Asuna or something, Kirito was like "Fine with me" "I'm better at using swords then words anyway" I swear I got a cubby, lmao!!! The dude is truly an unlikely Yet very believable bad ass!! I really hope they don't ever ruin that part of the story!!! Change things around a bit and mix up the story a little if ya want but keep Kirito the bad ass that he is! He's the best kind of hero! He's not flashy or arrogant but very skilled, confident, and always willing to help out Anyone in need! Even dumb shits like those army guys lol!
I really hope he beats Heathcliff in a great and fair fight(Ya know Heathcliff probably has a rare skill too)! And then starts that small group with Asuna and the others we talked about!! Now would be a great time for it. It's almost half over, time to work some lasting friendships into the story so one of them can die later and make Kirito go god like on another boss lol, making the show even more epic!!!
Have I mentioned how amazing this Anime is??? lol Just saying!!!
I think this is an awesome anime and am extremely glad that it will have at least 26 eps
K I know this was said on CR apparenlty but how true is this? Cause ANN and few other things I've seen only have listed as a 12 ep series. Now that wouldn't be all bad IF.... they have plans for multi season as to not rush though this PHENOMINAL series to get to a mediocerending. This series has been on a freakin awsome roll and hate to see it end in a bad way. So this forum post that CR apparently had on it beinng 26 es or whatever. Man I really hope its true. Or to at the very least liek I said be planed for multi seasons. Providing its obvously doing well in japan. Cause if not we wil se the end of a GREAT show that should not end at 12 eps.
I must say I had to go back and rewatch eps 8and 9. They were just that good to me. forgot to mention how I liked the fact that Kirito and Lis were "on the run" form everyone on info for his "duel baldes" skill. lol I reallly hope this gets a dub licence. It would easily be my #2 fav licenced anime right now. For now its gunna have to be my #3 fav anime in general.. for now. lol
Am I the only one that thinks Kirito is a total Gary Stu nerd power fantasy? I have no idea why I should care about him. He has the usual generic Yuji Everylead non-personality. His only perceivable character flaw is that he's just such a dark and angsty loner. Even though he still has every girl he meets falling all over him. In a story with the gimmick being constant threat of death, I should at least feel like the main character is in jeopardy. You don't have to actually kill him, as that would conclude the story, but having him practically pulling new powers out of his ass and soloing the boss that literally just defeated an entire army? That's ridiculous.
Oh and Asuna... let's just derail her entire character while we're at it. So she's strong enough to be a sub-commander in a top guild, but we're just going to make her into a literal prize to be won by our hero, Videogame Jesus--I mean Kirito. Feminism marches on as always.
If that old guy doesn't at least beat Kirito's ass a little in the next episode, I'm dropping this. It's like watching a bad .Hack fanfic and I'm just not interested.
